On Sunday, October 26, 2025, Aden, the capital city, hosted a consultative workshop to establish a network of women working in the justice sector. This workshop was part of the “Enhancing Inclusive Access to Justice for Women and Girls” project, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the ASF Youth Foundation and with support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

The workshop aimed to strengthen cooperation and unify efforts among women working in the justice sector, including lawyers, social workers, legal assistants, and mediators, thereby contributing to building a supportive professional environment that ensures the integration of roles and the development of services provided to women and girls.

The sessions included a review of the workshop’s objectives, an introduction to the network and its preparatory committee, and discussions of its vision, mission, and goals. Four main themes were addressed: the strategic framework, areas of work, organizational structure, and decisions and responsibilities. The services and benefits the network will provide were also discussed, and a preliminary work plan was developed in preparation for its official launch. The participants in the workshop emphasized the importance of a unified professional umbrella organization for women working in the justice system. This organization would enable them to exchange experiences and enhance their leadership and legal and social advocacy skills, thereby supporting efforts to improve women’s and girls’ access to justice.

The workshop concluded with a set of practical recommendations to activate the network and the association, and to strengthen integration between official bodies and civil society. This integration aims to empower women to fulfill their professional and leadership roles in building a more equitable and inclusive justice system.
