The Women’s Center at Aden University, in partnership with the Afaq Youth Foundation and with support from the Civil Coalition for Peace and the Dutch organization PAX, concluded a training course for trainers (TOT) in the field of gender and peacebuilding on September 24, 2025.
The six-day course targeted ten graduates of the center, who then trained ten other participants each, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 100 young men and women.
Dr. Huda Alawi, Director of the Women’s Center at Aden University, praised the efforts of those who implemented and supported the course, emphasizing the importance of this type of program in qualifying young men and women and empowering them to actively contribute to spreading a culture of peace and coexistence, and enhancing women’s participation in decision-making positions.
The course aimed to strengthen understanding of gender concepts and their role in peacebuilding processes, support women’s participation in decision-making positions, engage men in equality issues, consolidate the principles of equal citizenship and human rights, and understand mechanisms for preventing gender-based violence.
The project coordinator, Nadera Nader, confirmed that the program comes within a project that seeks to redefine social roles, enhance women’s influence, and encourage men’s participation in bringing about positive societal changes that contribute to strengthening social cohesion and justice.
